The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed and released the identities of eight more Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) members killed in an airstrike on a UNRWA school.
(PLGNN) - The IDF strike on a United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) school has stirred up some controversy in the international community due to the Hamas and PIJ use of a United Nations's facility, and the Hamas-run media claims that over a dozen children were killed in the airstrike.
IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said 30 terrorists were killed in the strike, however Hamas-run media claimed the opposite, saying that children and civilians were killed in the strike. United States state department spokesperson Matthew Miller claimed to have seen reports saying 14 children were killed in the strike.
This has led the United States to call on Israel to publicly release the identities of all the terrorists that were killed in the strike, and while Israel frequently releases the identities of militants they target, it is rare for the US to ask them to do so. The Israel Defense Forces had already released the names of nine PIJ and Hamas terrorists on June 6th.
On June 7th, the IDF posted to X releasing the identities of eight more Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad members who were operating from the UNRWA school and killed by the Israeli strike, officially confirming the identities of 17 terrorists.
One of the individuals listed participated in the October 7th massacre, which killed the largest number of Jewish people since the Holocaust.
Should the Israeli Military continue to release the identities of these individuals, it is possible that they could officially prove their claim of Hamas and the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry is lying about the number of civilian casualties.
This is the 5th time Israel has caught Hamas and the PIJ operating from a UNRWA school.
