LAPD's Response To UCLA Violence Brought Into Question

The Los Angeles Police Department's response time has been called into question regarding protests turned violent at UCLA.

(PLGNN) -
At UCLA, students have established an encampment in support of Palestine, which is currently being entered by Israel following the October 7th attack by terrorist group Hamas. Students have said they will not leave the encampment until UCLA meets their demands, which is divesting in any Israel related company.

Throughout the week, Jewish students were blocked from entering their classes along with a female Jewish student being beaten unconscious by a group of pro-Palestine protestors.

Last night, violence erupted at the encampment when it was stormed by counter-protestors, resulting in both sides fighting.

The fighting, which started at around 11 PM Tuesday, resulted in students being hit with wood, knocked to the ground, along with fireworks being thrown into the crowd.

UCLA police stood by, watching this all unfold. Despite the LAPD officially being sent in with riot gear to UCLA at 2 AM Wednesday, there is still the question of why didn't they come sooner, and why didn't law enforcement do anything during the first two hours of the fighting.

A possible answer to this may be the group of pro-Palestine protestors shouting, "Go home pigs" to the cops, whereas pro-Israel students who had been beaten down by the encampment, along with counter-protestors, had cheered "USA USA".

UCLA police have now ordered protestors to leave the encampment.
