Rumors have flown around online claiming that the leader of North Korea is dead.
(PLGNN) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is rumored to have died of a brain hemorrhage. But source's say there's no truth to those rumors.
Wanjun Xie, a Chinese dissident who lives in the US and identifies himself as the chairman of the Chinese Democratic Party claimed that Kim had been taken to a hospital in Beijing. Xie claimed Kim suffered a severe brain hemorrhage and was transported in a coma to a hospital in Beijing because North Korea lacked the medical capabilities to help him. He then said that Kim died with his body being secretly brought back to North Korea.
North Korean state newspaper Rodong Sinmun published images of Kim on Tuesday touring a footwear and clothing exhibition with his daughter, showing that the dictator is alive and well.
Facts regarding news in North Korea are difficult to come by, with the isolationist nature of the state concealing the majority of happenings in the country. The majority of intel on North Korea comes from South Korean intelligence.
South Korean intelligence officials told Yonhap that they have not heard anything to support the report of Kim's death.
It's unknown why Xie made these claims, and some are suspecting that he may be trying to get attention, or perhaps is trying to embarrass the Chinese government for their ties to North Korea.
For now, it appears that the North Korean dictator is alive and well.
