Ohio Race Plagued By Ad Scandal

Gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy lands himself in hot water as he releases offensive ad involving his opponent’s family.

(PLGNN) -
The Ohio gubernatorial election is turning out to be one of the nastiest in the country. After a string of nasty attack ads, GOP candidate and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy released his most controversial commercial yet, targeting his opponent, Democrat Amy Action. The one minute broadcast featured Action’s mother, who condemned her daughter as “liar” who can’t “help herself.”

But why would Amy Action’s mother degrade her own daughter like that? The Democrat broke her silence, explaining that her mother married a man who sexually abused her as a child. She defended her predator husband in court, and she fled the state with him to avoid punishment.

Amy’s explanation went viral, reaching over 150k likes on Instagram and triggering widespread bipartisan backlash. Philip Stearns, Amy Action’s brother, called Vivek’s ad a “despicable low.” GOP senator John Husted said he “wouldn’t have run” that ad and Nikki Haley called Vivek a “bad guy.”

The Republican chances of winning the midterms are increasing slim, and Vivek’s ad certainly won’t help them. Already, the Silver Bulletin shifted the race from “Toss Up to “Likely Democrat” and Action’s chances on prediction markets skyrocketed to the high 70s. With high gas prices, an endless war in Iran, and now nasty attack ads involving sensitive life stories. Ohio voters aren’t enthusiastic about letting a Republican take the mantle of governorship. They may be poised to elect a Democrat for the first time in 20 years.
