(PLGNN) - The 2024 NBA draft was held at Barclays Center Arena in New York City, where it has taken place every other year since 2013. This year, 58 players were able to achieve their dreams of being drafted into the National Basketball Association (NBA). 58 prospects shook hands with Adam Silver, the commissioner of the NBA, signifying their dreams had been achieved.
The first pick in the 2024 draft belongs to the Atlanta Hawks, where they selected the 19 year old French prospect, Zaccharie Risacher. The 6'9'' 215 pounds number one overall forward will be going to Atlanta for the upcoming season. Although a bit young to be drafted, Risacher has shown many feats during his time in JL Bourg-en-Bresse. "You know, the amount of development that he has had up until this point is fantastic, he is still only 19, he will be 19 all of next year..." said Landry fields, the Hawks general Manager.
The second overall pick which has little difference to the first was given to the Wizards who selected Alexandre Sarr. Just like Zaccharie Risacher, Sarr is also a 19 year old French forward. The difference is that Sarr is 3 inches taller and played in Australia before being drafted. Although Washington Wizards is considered one of the worst teams in the NBA for years now, Sarr may be able to change that along with Poole and Kuzma.

One of the most well known names in the draft belongs LeBron Raymone "Bronny" James Jr. Being the 55th pick by the LA Lakers, Bronny will officially be playing in the NBA along with LeBron. This is the first time in history where a father and son plays in the NBA at the same time and in the same team. After many who considered his first and last season in USC as "disappointing" and didn't think he would be drafted, Bronny pulled through and was able to achieve a spot.
Bronny James joining the Lakers has created controversies and hate. Most believed that he was only able to get drafted was due to his fathers intervention. Many believed his college performance in USC wasn't "draft worthy". Many jokes like "LeNut" and "Lebron sleeping with his teammate's mom" arises from media.
With many legends who are close to retiring from the NBA, new and entertaining players are needed. With many new players joining the NBA, fans are excited to see what these rookies have for them.
