Singer Olivia Rodrigo made a reference to boxer Jake Paul during her opening monologue while hosting Saturday Night Live.
(PLGNN) - Actress/Singer Olivia Rodrigo hosted the famous Saturday Night Live (SNL) comedy show this Saturday, exciting fans around the world.
During her opening monologue, she said "When I was 13, I was on a Disney show called ‘Bizaardvark’. We had an incredible cast, which included Jake Paul. We'd always talk about our futures, me and Jake. I'd say, 'I really want to create music that explores the complexities of girls my age.' And he'd say, 'Well, one day I really want to beat up old guys on Netflix.' And we both did it! Hurray!"
This is most likely a reference to Jake Paul's November 2024 boxing match against Mike Tyson, where Paul defeated Tyson by unanimous decision. All three judges scored the eight-round bout in favor of Paul (80-72, 79-73, 79-73).
Jake Paul and Olivia Rodrigo were in one and a half seasons of Bizaardvark together, before Paul was fired by Disney in July 2017. He was deemed unfit for Disney's family-friendly brand, and his increasly disruptive online antics and many complaints from West Hollywood neighbors resulted in him getting let go from the show.
Following their time on the show, Olivia Rodrigo began releasing music, and Jake Paul, who had previously been doing YouTube vlogging, became a professional boxer, known as "El Gallo Dorado". He has a 12–2–0 (7 KOs) record.
