Controversial influencer and businessman Andrew Tate along with his brother Tristan are to be extradited to the United Kingdom following rape and human trafficking allegations.

(PLGNN) - Andrew Tate, 37, rose to internet stardom in 2022 and became more searched for than Donald Trump and Covid-19. Andrew Tate was inspiring a large audience of young men by posting videos surround by luxury cars, expensive watches, and, of course, plenty of women. Videos of Tate were viewed more than 11 billion times on TikTok, according to The Guardian. Tate went viral due to his lavish lifestyle, but also his controversial statements, which many people have deemed to be misogynistic.

Andrew Tate, along with brother Tristan Tate, 35, were detained in Romania late December of 2022, where they spent 3 months in police custody before being released into house arrest. They have since been placed under judicial control where they are free to move around in the Municipality of Bucharest.

On Monday, Andrew and Tristan Tate were detained in Bucharest after Bedfordshire Police said they had obtained an arrest warrant. According to CNN, 'Officers from the country’s Criminal Investigation Service and officers from the town of Voluntari executed two European arrest warrants issued by the UK judicial authorities for the commission of sexual offenses and exploitation of persons on the territory of Great Britain,' police said in a statement.

The Romanian Court of Appeal has allowed the Tates' extradition, however have postponed it until the end of their Romania trial on charges of rape and human trafficking, which the brothers have continued to deny.

CNN stated that, "the Tate brothers said they do not want to be returned to the UK," however, due to their current situation, it seems likely they will be.
