Democratic nominee Kamala Harris picked Minnesota governor Tim Walz as her vice president for the 2024 United States election, which is a move said to be appealing to antisemitic progressives.
(PLGNN) - Current Vice President of the United States and Democratic nominee for President of the United States, Kamala Harris, has picked Minnesota governor Tim Waltz as her running mate in the 2024 United States Presidential election, which is a move that some strategists believe is to appeal to the antisemitic, pro-Hamas progressive wing of the Democratic party.
Tensions have been high amongst progressives in the United States following the October 7th surprise attack from terrorist group Hamas which has sparked an ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel. The attack killed over 1,200 Israelis, taking 250 hostages, over 100 of which are still being held in Gaza by Hamas.
Since October 7th, progressive voices have been calling for the destruction of Israel and voicing support for Hamas. This has sparked protests all over the nation, with progressive individuals protesting outside of Holocaust memorials, Synagogues, and universities. At the Ivy League universities, students have protested in favor of Hamas and Palestine, and have blocked Jewish students from entering the universities, along with verbally and physically harassing Jewish students.
These protests are primarily due to the United State's funding of Israel, with United States President Joe Biden heavily aiding the Jewish state. Both Biden and Republican nominee Donald Trump pledged full support for Israel, which has become a problem for progressive voters.
Kamala Harris was originally predicted to choose Governor of Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro to be her Vice President pick, however, she made the surprise decision to pick Tim Waltz instead.
Spokesperson for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Mike Berg, told Fox News, "Kamala Harris did not pick Josh Shapiro because antisemitic progressives did not like that he is Jewish. It was Harris' first major decision as the nominee, and she caved to the pro-Hamas contingency within the Democratic Party."
"Kamala Harris helped bankroll the 2020 riots in Minnesota when she promoted the Minnesota Freedom Fund. Walz let Minnesota burn. Kamala Harris supported decriminalizing illegal immigration and abolishing ICE — Walz supported making Minnesota a sanctuary state," he said.
Earlier this week, an op-ed written for the student newspaper of the University of Rochester by Shapiro was discovered where he wrote of being an Israeli army volunteer and stressed that "Palestinians will not peacefully coexist".
Some strategists are speculating that the discovering of the op-ed led to Harris picking Walz over Shapiro.
CNN's Van Jones said that there is "antisemitism marbled into this party" and makes the suggestion that the decision was "caving into the darker parts of the party" and appealing to "antisemitic bigots".
Harris and Walz will be running against former United States President Donald Trump and Ohio senator J.D. Vance in November for the United States 2024 election.
